Pietra Ligure: Enduro, the Way It Used to Be
The UCI Enduro World Cup is officially underway, and it kicked off with a race that brought us back to the roots of the sport. Pietra Ligure delivered a round with real enduro flavor — where racing meant more than just speed.
Two full days of pedaled practice, no lifts or shuttles, followed by two demanding race days. Riders had to earn every descent, tackle big climbs, and manage their energy over a course that tested both fitness and skill.
We at Switch Components were there, trackside with our Abetone Factory Team, supporting the riders and watching our components perform under pressure. Handlebars, stems, grips, and dropper posts — some of them prototypes still in testing — faced the rugged terrain with confidence, shaped by direct athlete feedback.
The outcome? A strong start to the season:
-
Tommaso Francardo finishes 14th overall in the elite category
-
Nadine Ellecoste, the reigning Italian Champion, breaks into the Top 10 in the women’s field
-
Matteo Falcini lands a 3rd place podium in the Junior category
Next stop: Bielsko-Biała, Poland, where the second round of the World Cup is set to take place this weekend. New trails, new challenges — same drive to push beyond limits.
Stay tuned. Ride Switch.
